New Zealand Wineries and Estates

Our New Zealand Portfolio features boutique wines from renowned wine-growing regions, including Hawkes Bay, Martinborough, Moutere-Nelson, Waipara (North Canterbury), and Alexandra (Central Otago). These wineries showcase their distinctive regional styles through unique terroir soils, climate, and expert winemaking, producing expressive, high-quality wines typically not found in supermarkets.

We stock a selection of these offerings locally. Linden Estate , Hamden Estate, Moutere Hills, Waipara Downs and Judgerock.

For example, from our local stock we offer Moutere Hills (Nelson): Pinot Gris, Chardonnay, Riesling, and Ice Wine. However, due to regular vintage changes in some Winery lineups, we prefer to offer them on an individual request basis.

Moutere Hills Vineyard

The Vineyard was first planted in 1993, Moutere Hills is a small boutique vineyard producing approximately 30 ton of grapes annually. The vineyard is dry farmed on Moutere clay gravels which have incredible moisture retention properties. The grapes are handpicked and the wine carefully made in small batches to produce some premium wines. The winemaking is a hands off approach with minimal intervention resulting in expressive and aromatic wines with fine tannins and a beautiful minerality. The property boasts a modern restaurant which also runs the vineyard cellar door.

Hamden Estate

Hamden Estate is located on the Dry River Terraces, six kilometres south of Martinborough. The site is elevated with spectacular views to the Tararua Ranges. The soils are limestone rich, river gravels. Planting by the owners commenced in 2001. We grow five varieties on our three hectare site. The elevation and the different soils provide a point of difference to Martinborough itself. All our wines are at the dryer end of the viticultural spectrum.

You may be intrigued by the label. We have three daughters. It is pleasing to know that they have provided us with abundant advice over the years, some related to the vineyard.

Linden Estate

Linden Estate is a family owned winery, nestled in the heart of Esk Valley, Hawke’s Bay. Passionate about producing premium wines that speak to the authenticity, innovation, and the character of our region. Our winemaking philosophy puts a strong emphasis on showcasing the unique terroir of Hawke’s Bay – recognized as the 12th Great Wine Capital of the World.

Judge Rock

Judge Rock’s 27 year old boutique Alexandra family vineyard produces stunning Pinot Noir, Rosé, Blanc de Noir, Pét-Nat, St Laurent and Port. Awards include Cuisine 5 stars, AIR NZ Gold medals and Australian & New Zealand Boutique Wine Show trophies. From 2019 vintage all wines are Certified Organic.

Elegant Sensuous Intimate

Waipara Downs – Waipara, North Canterbury

Waipara Downs Farm was purchased in 1986 by Ruth and Keith Berry (Scott’s Parents) it consisted of a small vineyard planted a year earlier by former owner Johnathan Bain. In 1987 Ruth grew the vineyard into a 4-hectare block consisting of Chardonnay, Pinot Noir and Cabernet Sauvignon. The first commercial vintage off the Waipara Downs block was 1991 by a consultant winemaker. In 1994 Ruth decided it was time to build a concrete tilt slab winery which still exists today and is our current winemaking facility. In 2001 Scott returned from France where he was upskilling to start winemaking for Waipara Downs. 2001- 2009 grew the vineyard from 4-hectares to 18-hectares. 2017 was a big year for the Berry family when Scott and Sally purchased the vineyard block, winery and moved home with our three children to start a new family.
